Cloud code: Conductor joins the rush toward remote coding agents

Conductor has launched Conductor Cloud, an early-access version of its AI coding agent platform that runs in hosted workspaces after developers disconnect.

The San Francisco startup, backed by a $22 million Series A, is shifting its agents from local Macs to remote cloud environments.

The move reflects a broader industry trend toward cloud-based coding agents that can run longer, work in parallel, and operate beyond a developer’s machine.

Conductor is making the shift alongside similar cloud efforts from AI coding players such as Anthropic, Mistral, Roo Code, Claude Code, and OpenAI Codex.
