What Anthropic Development Projects Were Revealed by the Claude Code Source Code Leak?

Claude Code's source code was leaked on March 31, 2026.

Anthropic published the source and released an npm package version 2.1.88 on March 31.

Analysis examined over 2,000 files and more than 512,000 lines of code.

Revealed features include KAIROS (designed to run in the background if the terminal window closes), PROACTIVE KAIROS with a Proactive flag to surface information the user hasn't requested, a file-based memory system that persists across sessions, AutoDream for memory consolidation on inactivity or session end, and an Undercover mode that hides the agent's AI nature but was disabled.

Buddy had a planned early release April 1–7 and a full launch in May; UltraPlan, Voice Mode, Bridge mode, and a Coordinator tool were listed as future considerations.
