Thea Energy lands $20M federal grant to build its magnets for fusion reactors

Thea Energy received a $20 million ARPA-E federal grant to scale manufacturing of its magnets for a stellarator fusion reactor.

The company says its modular, high-temperature superconducting magnet design uses standardized parts and software control to cut complexity and cost.

The funding helps reduce a major hardware cost barrier for fusion energy development.

It could also accelerate Thea’s push toward a more manufacturable commercial reactor design.
