The makers of security-first GrapheneOS are calling out Google and Apple’s tactics

GrapheneOS says Google’s newer reCAPTCHA flow and similar Apple/Google verification tools are pushing hardware attestation into web access.

The project argues these systems favor Google-certified or Apple-approved devices while excluding privacy-focused platforms like GrapheneOS.

It warns that security checks such as Play Integrity and App Attest can become a gatekeeper for apps and websites, not just a fraud-prevention tool.

If that trend continues, users on uncertified or privacy-preserving devices could be locked out of services even when their systems are secure.
