AI is turning connected cars into pothole-finding machines

Samsara launched Ground Intelligence, a dashboard that uses commercial vehicle camera data to detect potholes and other street issues in near real time.

The system can also flag problems like graffiti and broken guardrails, helping cities prioritize repairs faster than relying only on 311 reports.

Chicago is already a customer, and Samsara plans to expand the product into more municipal and fleet-related services.

The approach could turn vehicles already on the road into a scalable network for monitoring infrastructure deterioration.
