Google's Gemini Spark: Here's What It Actually Does for Developers.

Google unveiled Gemini Spark at I/O 2026, an always-on AI agent for Workspace automation that runs on Google Cloud.

It can carry out multi-step tasks across Gmail, Docs, and Slides, with reusable Tasks, Skills, and time-based Schedules.

Gemini Spark also connects to external services through MCP, including Canva, OpenTable, and Instacart.

The pitch: give developers and knowledge workers a native Google agent that can act on Workspace data with deep, cloud-based access.
