ReDesign: Recovering Editable Design Structures from Images via Agentic Decomposition

Researchers unveiled ReDesign, an agentic system that reconstructs editable design structures from raster images using tools for text, shapes, colors, grouping, and layer order.

They also released the Figma Edit Replay Benchmark, with 909 Figma files and 14,796 edit instructions, to measure how editable reconstructed designs really are.

On this benchmark, ReDesign beat prior layered decomposition and serial tool pipelines on editability while still preserving strong visual fidelity.

The work aims to recover design assets more efficiently and make image-based designs easier to revise and reuse.
