China's highest-paid undergraduate major changes hands: computer-related fields decline overall, “Microelectronic Science and Engineering” takes No. 1 for the first time - IT Home

According to the 2026 China Undergraduate Employment Report, Microelectronic Science and Engineering became the top-paying major for graduates six months after graduation for the first time.

Its average monthly income was 7,814 yuan, with Electronic Science and Technology and Automation ranking second and third.

Information Security fell to fourth, while computer-related majors such as Computer Science and Software Engineering also slipped in the income rankings.

By contrast, majors tied to hard-tech fields like electronics, automation, and machinery moved up, reflecting a shift in labor-market demand.
