Intel is reversing course and bringing hyper-threading back to its server chips

Intel said its Xeon 8 Coral Rapids server CPUs, due in 2028, will bring back simultaneous multi-threading.

The move reverses Intel’s earlier decision to remove hyper-threading from newer chip lines.

Intel framed the change as part of a broader effort to improve data center CPU competitiveness and market share.

The strategy reflects Intel’s view that multi-threading still matters against AMD and Arm-based rivals.
