From teen hacker to Iron Dome researcher, this founder raised $28M to fight AI phishing

Ocean raised $28 million in new funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners to build an AI-powered email security platform.

Founded by former Israeli cyber operator Shay Shwartz, Ocean is coming out of stealth with a focus on detecting phishing, fraud, and impersonation in email.

The product analyzes message context and intent to catch attacks that are becoming faster, cheaper, and more targeted with generative AI.

The startup enters a crowded market alongside players like Proofpoint, Mimecast, and Abnormal Security, as demand for stronger defenses grows.
