US firm to open 22,000 sq ft quantum lab for future 2 million qubit systems

IonQ will expand its Boulder, Colorado R&D footprint with a 22,000-square-foot lab and chip-testing space.

The site will host IonQ’s first fully installed quantum computer and support next-generation trapped-ion systems.

IonQ says the expansion fits a roadmap that could scale up to 2 million qubits.

The move adds U.S.-based quantum hardware capacity and may strengthen domestic semiconductor and quantum supply chains.
