OpenAI’s Codex now has a tiny AI pet that keeps you updated while you code

OpenAI launched Codex Pets for the Codex desktop app on Windows and macOS.

The optional animated companions show task progress, accept replies, and can be made from built-in designs or custom images.

Users can create or change a pet with commands like /pet and /hatch.

The update also adds config auto-import and a dictation dictionary, improving everyday developer workflows.
