OpenAI analyzed more than 800,000 ChatGPT conversations from U.S. business users and found that 44% of role-specific requests were related to work usually handled by other jobs.

In customer service, design and HR, that share was about 75%, with users relying on ChatGPT for tasks like marketing materials, bug fixing, financial calculations and regulatory interpretation.

The findings suggest AI is reshaping job boundaries and task allocation faster than it is changing headcount.
