New Starship to Launch on May 19, with the Third Generation Significantly Redesigned

SpaceX has set a launch window starting May 19 for the first flight of its redesigned third-generation Starship and Super Heavy booster from Starbase.

The test mission will check ascent, stage separation, booster boostback and landing burns, along with payload deployment and in-space engine re-ignition.

It will also deploy Starlink-sized simulators and examine the heat shield as part of the vehicle’s debut flight profile.

The launch is a major step toward proving Starship can be rapidly reusable and safe for future orbital missions and eventual return to Earth.
