2,500-year-old rare rings discovered at ‘unique’ Late Bronze Age site in Sweden

Archaeologists near Marby, Sweden, uncovered a rare Late Bronze Age burial site during a routine housing excavation.

The find included cremated bones, a stone monument, burnt mounds, settlement remains, and unusual braided bronze neck rings.

The neck rings were placed in an atypical grave setting, suggesting a ritual burial linked to cremation practices.

Experts say the discovery sheds light on how funerary customs were changing at the end of the Bronze Age and into the Iron Age.
