Those tumor-prone regions contained the protein Chinmo, while resistant regions did not.

Reducing Chinmo stopped tumor growth, and increasing it triggered abnormal growth in previously resistant areas.

The results suggest brain-cancer risk may depend on where a mutation occurs, not just the mutation itself.
