Google I/O 2026: You can talk to your Gmail inbox soon

Google introduced Gmail Live at I/O 2026, a native voice AI feature that lets users search their inbox by speaking questions.

The company also expanded AI Inbox with draft replies, document access, and task management tools to make email handling more conversational.

Both features are rolling out first to Google AI Pro, Google AI Ultra, and Workspace users.

Google emphasized privacy safeguards and source visibility, even as the update raises new trust questions for AI-powered inbox tools.
