Google strengthens Android theft protection, adding new features for impersonation call protection and spyware investigation support

Google announced new Android security and privacy features on May 12, 2026, centered on Android 17.

The update adds spoofed bank-call detection, stronger theft protection, and intrusion logs to help investigate spyware.

It also gives users tighter control over sharing location and contacts, while expanding protections through Find Hub and Advanced Protection mode.
