Cloudflare CEO Prince says builders and sellers are safe, but AI is coming for the measurers

Cloudflare cut more than 20% of its workforce even as it reported record revenue.

CEO Matthew Prince said AI is reducing demand for oversight and administrative roles, including middle managers, operations, finance, marketing, and compliance.

He argued that builders and sellers are less exposed, while measurable “middle” functions are most at risk.

The layoffs also drew skepticism, with analysts pointing to margin pressure, a quarterly operating loss, and profitability concerns beyond AI.
