PlayStation discs are dying in 2028, and fan backlash isn’t changing Sony’s mind

Sony says it will stop producing physical discs for new PlayStation games starting in January 2028.

Games released before then and existing physical copies will still work, and Sony says the decision has already been fully considered.

Collectors and game preservation advocates have criticized the move, and a boycott is being organized.
