There aren’t enough rockets for space data centers — Cowboy Space raised $275M to build them

Cowboy Space, led by Robinhood co-founder Baiju Bhatt, raised $275 million in a Series B at a $2 billion post-money valuation.

The company is pivoting from space solar to building its own rockets for future space data centers, saying today’s launch market is too limited and costly.

It expects its first launch before the end of 2028, aiming to support orbital compute infrastructure at scale.

The deal highlights how surging AI compute demand is pushing startups to consider becoming launch providers themselves.
