Researchers devise a full-color night vision goggle

A Beijing Institute of Technology team built night-vision goggles that convert infrared into full-color visible images.

The device uses mercury telluride colloidal quantum dots and a dual-layer OLED to map different infrared wavelengths and intensities to distinct colors.

By relying on color contrast rather than brightness alone, it could improve low-light and thermal imaging performance.

The approach could move night vision beyond the usual green monochrome display.
