China’s BYD moves exhaust to the engine bay to support larger batteries exceeding 100kWh

BYD unveiled the Heyuan platform, moving the exhaust silencer to the front engine bay to free up rear packaging space.

The redesign lets the Denza D9 plug-in hybrid fit much larger battery packs, including a 66.48 kWh setup and potentially over 100 kWh.

This improves space efficiency without increasing vehicle size, potentially boosting electric range and practicality in future BYD hybrids.
