Google adds “managed agents” to Gemini API, offering a full execution environment for AI agents

Google announced managed agents for the Gemini API at I/O 2026, letting developers trigger agents while Google handles the sandbox and execution layer.

The new setup covers code execution, file handling, tool orchestration, and session management, reducing infrastructure work for production AI agents.

The feature is available in preview through the Gemini API and Google AI Studio.

Google also expanded Antigravity, with Antigravity CLI and related products rolling out across the agent platform.
