Sony and Bandai Get Into Bed With Generative AI

Sony has launched a generative AI pilot with Bandai Namco for future video production, aiming to boost productivity and shorten development cycles.

Sony Interactive Entertainment says AI is already being used in PlayStation studios for facial animation, hair animation, and PS5 Pro upscaling via PSSR.

Company leaders stressed that creators will still guide the creative process, framing AI as a support tool rather than a replacement.

The update comes as Sony reports weaker hardware sales, including a 46% year-over-year drop in PS5 sales, after raising console prices.
