WhatsApp is bringing Status updates to the top of the Chats tab

WhatsApp is testing a new iOS beta that could surface Status updates in the Chats tab.

The tray would stay hidden by default, open with a pull-down gesture, and rank statuses by contact relevance.

Shortcuts would make it easier to post new Statuses and view muted ones.

The change could make disappearing posts more visible and boost engagement, while aligning WhatsApp more closely with Meta apps like Instagram.
