Anthropic launched Claude Opus 5, a new flagship model priced like Opus 4.8 but positioned as much stronger in capability.

The model is available across Anthropic’s platforms and API, and aims to get close to Claude Fable 5 performance at roughly half the cost.

Anthropic also revised cyber safety controls, adding Fast mode and automatic fallback for flagged requests.

The release was accompanied by benchmark results and system-card safety findings, underscoring both performance and alignment changes.
