China's First Space Lab Module Wentian Completes Four Years in Orbit: 17.9-Meter Research Platform Enables Over 1,400 Days of Space Science Experiments

China’s Wentian experiment module has marked four years in orbit as Tiangong’s first dedicated science lab.

Since its 2022 launch, it has expanded crew living space, supported EVAs, and provided high-capacity solar power.

In the fully assembled Tiangong station, Wentian has enabled over 1,400 days of microgravity research in materials, fluids, and combustion science.

The milestone highlights China’s shift from crewed missions to long-duration orbital science infrastructure.
