China’s auto exports surged in April, reaching 901,000 vehicles, with more than 3.13 million shipped in the first four months of the year.

If the pace continues, China could top 10 million car exports in 2026, driven by weak domestic demand and rising inventory.

EV subsidy cuts and intense price competition are squeezing sales at home, pushing automakers like BYD to expand overseas.

Chinese brands are gaining share abroad with low-cost, tech-rich NEVs and plug-in hybrids in markets including Europe, Brazil, Australia, Japan, South Korea and Germany.
