xAI Adds 19 New Gas Turbines Despite Ongoing Lawsuit

xAI reportedly added 19 portable natural gas turbines at its Southaven, Mississippi site over two months, lifting the total to 46 and adding more than 500 MW of capacity.

The expansion is fueling Colossus 2 as xAI continues building out one of its large AI data centers.

At the same time, xAI faces a lawsuit from the NAACP and environmental groups over alleged Clean Air Act violations and unpermitted turbine use.

The dispute has intensified concerns about emissions, local air quality, and whether regulators are enforcing air-permit rules.
