Tesla moves Cybercab from concept to factory floor, but lowers expectations for robotaxis

Tesla has shifted the purpose-built Cybercab from limited builds to continuous production at Gigafactory Texas and revealed the first mass-produced unit.

Elon Musk said robotaxi expansion will move more slowly than expected as Tesla prioritizes safety validation, software maturity, and supply-chain ramp-up.

The company’s manufacturing progress makes its autonomy plans feel more real, but the gap remains between building Cybercabs and deploying a fully ready robotaxi network.

Tesla also continues refining Full Self-Driving and related hardware/software, underscoring that the rollout is still in an early, cautious phase.
