China’s new humanoid robot joins officers to handle street management tasks

Shanghai’s Pudong District has launched a trial urban management program in Zhangjiang AI Innovation Town using AgiBot’s humanoid robot Lingxi X2, drones, and officers.

The robot can monitor violations, explain rules, answer vendor questions, and assist routine enforcement tasks, while humans retain final legal authority.

The pilot is a real-world test of whether embodied AI can improve public-sector efficiency without replacing human decision-making.

It also signals China’s push to move humanoid robots from demonstrations into practical government operations.
