Perplexity AI sued over alleged data sharing with Meta and Google

A class-action lawsuit was filed in federal court in San Francisco against Perplexity AI.

Plaintiffs allege Perplexity shared personal chat data with Meta and Google.

The suit says trackers download to devices when users log into Perplexity's homepage and that those trackers gave Meta and Google access to conversations, allegedly even when Incognito mode was enabled.

The suit was filed by a man from Utah who says he shared financial and tax information with the chatbot; if certified, additional plaintiffs may join.

Perplexity's spokesperson said the company has not been served; Meta pointed to policies barring advertisers from submitting sensitive data; Google did not immediately comment.
