OpenAI rolls out GPT-5.5 with improved contextual understanding, Plus and up

OpenAI announced GPT-5.5, a new ChatGPT and Codex model with better context awareness, stronger coding and task performance, and faster responses.

The update also uses fewer tokens, improving efficiency while maintaining or improving quality on real-world jobs like coding, computer use, and research.

GPT-5.5 is rolling out today to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users.

API access will come later, as OpenAI continues safety review and safeguards before release.
