When to See a Rare ‘Blue Moon’ Rise at Dusk This Weekend

The rare Blue Moon will peak on Sunday, May 31, but the best time to view it is at moonrise on Saturday evening, May 30.

It will appear large and orange near the horizon at dusk, a result of Rayleigh scattering as the moon rises low in the sky.

Antares will be nearby in Scorpius, making for an especially striking sight for casual skywatchers.

Upcoming sky events include a Venus-Jupiter conjunction and the June new moon.
