Apple pressed by Maryland lawmakers over closure of first unionized U.S. store

Maryland lawmakers sent Apple a letter demanding details on the planned closure of its unionized Towson Town Center store.

The delegation wants Apple to explain why it is shutting the store, how about 100 employees will be affected, and whether workers can transfer to other Apple locations.

The IAM Union says Apple is unfairly restricting transfer options for unionized employees compared with workers at other closing stores.

The closure would hit Apple’s first unionized U.S. store and has raised concerns about possible unequal treatment of union workers.
