A big win for Android interoperability

EU Digital Markets Act rules could force Android to open key AI and system features to third-party services.

Capabilities like App Functions, screen automation, and access to system-level models may no longer be limited to Google apps and assistants.

That would give rival AI assistants and developers better access to messaging, scheduling, automation, and on-device AI tools.

The result could be stronger competition on Android and less exclusive control by Google over deep device integrations.
