802.11ad (WiGig) Tested with ASUS Prime X299-Deluxe and Netgear Nighthawk X10 - PC Perspective

PC Perspective tested ASUS Prime X299-Deluxe and Netgear Nighthawk X10 gear to compare 802.11ad WiGig against 802.11ac using iPerf3 over a 10GbE-backed setup.

The 60GHz link delivered very high peak wireless throughput, showing the promise of multi-gigabit short-range networking.

Performance fell off sharply with distance and orientation, underscoring 802.11ad’s strict line-of-sight requirements.

The findings highlight WiGig’s speed advantage for nearby devices, but also its limited real-world range and wall penetration.
