Book Publishers Accuse Meta and Mark Zuckerberg of Copyright Infringement

Five major publishers and author Scott Turow filed a class action lawsuit against Meta and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

They allege Meta copied and distributed millions of copyrighted books without permission or compensation to train its Llama AI model.

The complaint says Zuckerberg encouraged the conduct, while Meta argues AI training on copyrighted material is protected by fair use.

The case could help determine how AI companies can use books and other copyrighted works to train large language models.
