Decades of Effort Restore Steelhead and Salmon Passage on California's Alameda Creek

The final fish-passage barrier on Alameda Creek has been removed, reopening upstream habitat for the first time in 50 years.

California Trout, PG&E, and NOAA Fisheries funded work to relocate a gas pipeline and dismantle the concrete crossing.

The project clears the last mainstem obstacle for threatened Central California Coast steelhead and other migratory fish.

The restoration gives steelhead and salmon access to spawning and rearing habitat upstream after decades of blocked passage.
