U.S. to invest over $5 billion to boost AI biomedical research and biosecurity

The White House unveiled a national plan to bring AI into research across the board, linking federal funding with compute power to speed disease discovery and treatment development.

The effort centers on the Genesis Mission and the BioGenesis Mission, with participation from more than 15 federal agencies.

The U.S. government plans to invest more than $5 billion to strengthen AI-driven biomedical research infrastructure and accelerate drug and therapy development.

A separate budget will bolster biosecurity through the Strategic Preparedness and Response Administration, BARDA, Project BioShield, and national stockpile support.
