Discord Voice and Video Calls Now End-to-End Encrypted by Default

Discord has turned on end-to-end encryption by default for voice and video calls across desktop, mobile, web, and consoles.

The change covers DMs, group DMs, voice channels, and Go Live streams, using Discord’s DAVE protocol.

Stage channels are excluded, and Discord says it does not plan to encrypt text messages.

The rollout also removes unencrypted fallback code, making encrypted calling the new standard on the platform.
