Google is giving AI Overviews in Search a major credibility upgrade

Google is upgrading Search with credibility features for AI Overviews and AI Mode.

Preferred Sources will now be integrated more directly into AI responses and search experiences.

Original reporting will get more visibility through a prominent article carousel below AI summaries.

Google is also expanding Highly Cited labels to surface more authoritative reporting across results.
