After Touch ID and Face ID, 'Ear ID'... Earbud authentication technology that reads heart rate emerges

Chinese researchers proposed AccLock, a biometric authentication method that uses earbuds’ built-in accelerometers to identify a wearer by heartbeat patterns.

The concept could enable unlocking smartphones, PCs, and smart door locks without a separate heart-rate sensor.

Because it works with common wireless earbuds, the technology could expand earbuds from audio devices into security wearables.

The team presented it as a proof of concept, not yet a commercial product.
