Woman Convicted for Attacking Police With Swarm of Furious Bees

A Massachusetts beekeeper was convicted after releasing a swarm of honey bees at sheriff’s deputies during a 2022 eviction attempt in Longmeadow.

Rebecca Woods was found guilty of misdemeanor assault and reckless assault and sentenced to six months in jail.

The case shows how eviction disputes can escalate into criminal charges when protest tactics endanger law enforcement.

Woods has appealed the verdict, saying she was trying to protect an elderly homeowner from being displaced.
