Trump administration bans imports of new Chinese humanoid robots and inverters to protect U.S. AI development

On July 28, 2026, the FCC announced an immediate import ban on new Chinese-made robots, renewable-energy equipment, and battery inverters that have not yet been sold in the U.S.

The move is intended to protect AI infrastructure and critical supply chains, and could later be expanded to include revoking sales approvals.
