Facebook's got a new 'Verified' badge to give you in exchange for a selfie

Facebook is rolling out a free Verified badge for eligible users aged 18+ who pass a selfie-based identity check and meet Community Standards.

The badge will launch in select markets first and be shown around Marketplace, Dating, Groups, and Profiles.

Meta says the feature is designed to improve trust and curb impersonation as AI makes fake accounts and messages easier to create.

It also gives users a free alternative to Meta’s paid verification product, Meta Verified.
