Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez introduce a bill to pause US data center construction

Senator Bernie Sanders introduced the Artificial Intelligence Data Center Moratorium Act co-sponsored with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Artificial Intelligence Data Center Moratorium Act would require an immediate pause on data center construction pause remains until specific new regulations are passed.

Bill would also pause upgrades to existing data centers upgrades halted until federal AI oversight laws are enacted.

Legislation requires AI products to be proven safe for humanity safety includes civil rights, privacy, public health and physical safety.

Would require data centers to be environmentally safe and not increase utility bills applies to future data center construction.
