Encrypted RCS starts rolling out to Android and iPhone with iOS 26.5

Apple has started rolling out end-to-end encrypted RCS for Android-to-iPhone chats in iOS 26.5.

The feature will turn on gradually for supported carriers and updated Google Messages devices over the coming months.

It closes a long-standing privacy gap while keeping modern RCS features like read receipts and media sharing.
