US nuclear project clears key NRC environmental milestone, to cut emissions by 440,000 tons

The U.S. NRC completed the environmental assessment for Dow and X-energy’s Long Mott project in Texas.

The agency found no significant environmental impact, clearing a key licensing step for the proposed plant.

The project would use four Xe-100 reactors to supply electricity and steam to Dow’s Seadrift site.

The milestone accelerates a first-of-its-kind industrial nuclear project and could become a model for manufacturing decarbonization.
